Strategic Planning Process

Planning Committee and Guiding Principles

Our strategic planning process (Nov 2024–Sept 2025) was led by an ad-hoc committee of emerging scholars, with support from the Sobey School Decanal team, to bring fresh insight to our future direction. The committee established guiding principles that shape our path forward: being future-ready; adaptable, agile and resilient; focused on meaningful societal impact; and committed to human flourishing and belonging for students, faculty and staff.

Stakeholder Engagement

Throughout the planning process, we gathered input from key stakeholders at multiple stages. Beginning in November 2024, the Dean’s Advisory Council and Faculty Executive offered early perspectives that informed the ad-hoc committee’s work. From February to April, the committee engaged faculty, staff, and students through council discussions, focus groups, and a follow-up survey. The committee met regularly from January to May to refine priorities, sharing a draft plan with internal and external stakeholders for feedback. A final draft was completed in September and approved by Sobey School governance bodies in October.

From Strategy to Action

With our goals clearly defined, the next step is disciplined implementation.

Each of the objectives will be translated into actionable initiatives with clear timelines, responsibilities, and measurable outcomes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will be developed to track progress, ensure accountability, and provide transparency to our community.

By aligning our daily practices with these strategic priorities, we will embed our goals into the culture of the Sobey School of Business—continuously monitoring results, celebrating successes, and adapting as needed to stay responsive to a rapidly changing world.
