The MFIN program typically begins its admissions cycle in September and ends in May or June. The following are required for consideration for admission: 

Academic 

  • Applicants will possess, a 4-year bachelor degree (or equivalent) in business studies, mathematics, accounting, finance, engineering, computer science, economics or other quantitative discipline with an overall minimum average of B; (75%) or higher  
  • An average score across all quantitative courses of:  
  • 75% for applicants with engineering, physics, computer science and mathematics degrees 
  • 80% for applicants with business degrees 
  • 85% for applicants with economics and international trade degrees 

 

Language Requirements 

Applicants to this program, whose first language is not English, or who did not graduate from an English medium university, must demonstrate their English language proficiency with the following additional requirement;  

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Note: 0958 is the appropriate TOEFL code for Saint Mary's University. minimum 550 on paper-based, minimum iBT 83, with no band below 20 
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Minimum 6.5 with no individual score below 6.0 
  • Pearson PTE score of 60 (no sub-score less than 50) 
  • Duolingo English Test (DET) minimum score of 125 (no sub-score less than 105) 
  • Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency  – minimum 176 with no individual score below 169 
  • CanTEST – minimum 4.5 with no individual score below 4.0 
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) – minimum 60 with no individual band below 50 

 

Application Process 

Applicants are required to submit the following: 

  • Transcripts: we will accept uploaded unofficial transcripts for evaluation purposes. Applicants must upload a grading scale with their unofficial transcripts. Successful applicants will be required to submit official final transcripts. 
  • Two letters of reference. Upon completion of the referee section of your online application, your referees will be sent a secure link in order to provide a reference. 
  • Applicants will submit an up-to-date curriculum vitae, indicating relevant working experiences. 
  • A completed Supplemental Form for the MFIN program-MFIN Supplemental Form 
  • Complete the online application form and provide the $125 processing fee.
