Bayport, Nova Scotia October 2020
Earning a Sobey scholarship was just one highlight for Connor Haines this year. His curling team won the 2020 Under-18 Men’s Nova Scotia Provincial Curling Championship. If not for the COVID-19 pandemic, he’d be headed to the National Championship in Sudbury, Ontario. He also boxes and plays percussion and drums, winning high school band awards for outstanding achievement four years in a row. Throw in his work at the South Shore Genealogical Society, his Duke of Edinburgh certificate, and his time as a junior firefighter and you’ve got quite a renaissance man!
Connor looks forward to learning more about economics and entrepreneurship in his time at Saint Mary’s, and plans to take part in the co-op program. His future plans include starting his own business, and coming out of university debt-free is part of that strategy.
“I will be able to make financial decisions based on my career aspirations, rather than managing student loans. Thank you for your generosity.”
