A two-year Diploma in Engineering provides students with a basic understanding of scientific principles and a foundation in engineering mathematics, design and technical communication.
After completing the Diploma, students may complete a Bachelor of Engineering in Resource Engineering at Saint Mary's, or continue their final two years of a Bachelor of Engineering degree at Dalhousie University in the fields of Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, Industrial, Chemical and Environmental Engineering.

The four-year Bachelor of Engineering in Resource Engineering prepares graduates to contribute to the design, development, and management of large-scale resource projects that balance technical, economic, environmental and societal considerations. Students can enter the Bachelor of Engineering in Resource Engineering from day one at Saint Mary’s, or enter into Year 3 of the program after completing the Diploma in Engineering. Students in this degree program choose between two program options: Renewable Energy Engineering or Mining Engineering.

Engineering studies at Saint Mary’s provides the first two years of an engineering degree in association with neighbouring Dalhousie University. After completing the Diploma in Engineering, a student can also remain an extra year or two at Saint Mary’s to pursue a two-and-a-half or three-year Bachelor of Science degree with Diploma in Engineering or a four-year Bachelor of Science, Major in Mathematics with a Diploma in Engineering.
