Modern life relies on natural resources. From the materials used in technology to the energy that powers homes and cities, engineers play a critical role in designing systems that produce and manage these resources responsibly.

The Bachelor of Engineering in Resource Engineering prepares students to work on large-scale projects that balance technical innovation, economic realities, environmental responsibility and community impact. Students build a strong engineering foundation while learning how natural and energy resources are developed, managed and used in ways that support both society and the environment.

The Bachelor of Engineering in Resource Engineering at Saint Mary’s can be entered directly in first year or through Year 3 after completing the Diploma in Engineering. Students choose between two areas of study: Renewable Energy Engineering or Mining Engineering. The program combines core engineering science fundamentals with specialized courses that prepare students to understand and manage natural and energy resources.

Streams

The program offers two streams so students can focus on their interests and prepare to help tackle some of today’s most important challenges - the transition to renewable energy and responsible resource development.

Renewable Energy Engineering

Solar panels

The Renewable Energy Engineering stream prepares students to work on systems that generate power from sources such as wind, solar and biomass. Students learn how energy systems are designed and how they connect to larger electrical grids and energy infrastructure.

Mining Engineering
