Dr. Mostafa M. Sani is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary’s University, working with the departments of Finance, Information Systems, and Management Science. His postdoctoral research focuses on data-driven decision-making in healthcare systems, with particular emphasis on integrated machine learning and optimization models for capacity expansion and patient placement in long-term care under uncertainty.
Dr. Sani’s broader research agenda lies at the intersection of operations research, artificial intelligence, and decision-making under uncertainty, with applications spanning healthcare systems, energy systems, and sustainability planning. His work develops advanced optimization and learning-based frameworks to support complex, real-world policy and operational decisions.
He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Dalhousie University and a Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from the University of Tehran. His research has been published in leading journals such as Energy, Energy Conversion and Management, Journal of Energy Storage, and Energy and Climate Change.
At the Sobey School of Business, Dr. Sani collaborates with faculty to advance data-driven prescriptive analytics that bridge theory and practice, contributing to improved system efficiency, resilience, and societal impact.
