Camp Philosophy
Our mission at Saint Mary's University Jr. Huskies Camps is to teach people how to play basketball. We provide, in a structured environment, instruction on the fundamentals of basketball with a focus on individual skill and team concepts. We then try to provide, through games and contests, an opportunity for the campers to test their skills in a competitive environment. We believe that success in all walks of life is attainable in some measure through dedication and hard work and try to instill this attitude in the campers. At the same time, we believe that an "all work and no play" approach is inappropriate. By grouping the campers according to age and ability, we try to provide a balanced mix of instruction, competition and fun that is right for everyone.
Skills Sessions
Solid fundamental skills are critical to success as a basketball player. Consequently we spend two full hours each day dedicated to the teaching of the skills of basketball in a structured, instructional environment. The skills worked on include shooting, passing, ball handling, screening, offensive footwork, defense, rebounding and transition. The rest of our schedule allows the campers to test their skills in various competitive situations.

Camp is running on Mon July 1st - no need to report an absence if you can't attend due to the Holiday.
- Quality coaching for co-ed camps by varsity head coaches for Men's and Women's Basketball, assistant coaches and some of the best student athletes in Canada.
- Five days of basic skill development, modified games and lots of fun-filled basketball activity.
- Emphasis on individual skill development and team concepts of offense and defense.
- Full-court games.
- T-shirts provided.
- Camps run 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but can have drop off and pick ups between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Huskies pride themselves on providing one of the top "girls only" basketball camps offered in the area. Players are encouraged to develop in a very positive environment. Members of the SMU Women's Varsity team continue to serve as excellent role models for younger players.
