Update

An update regarding the CUPE 3912 strike involving our part-time faculty members

Friday, October 31, 2025

Dear Saint Mary’s University Community,

We want to provide an update regarding the CUPE 3912 strike involving our part-time faculty members.

We recognize that the current labour disruption may be creating uncertainty, especially for students, and we are committed to supporting you through this period. Please be assured that the university follows a clear and structured process during any labour disruption that affects academic program delivery. This process involves the University Senate, which plays a key role in determining academic continuity and ensuring that students are not penalized for any pause in course delivery or assessment.

Once the strike concludes, a comprehensive plan will be communicated promptly to all affected students, faculty, and staff. Our priority is to support students in completing their academic term successfully and with minimal disruption.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Thank you for your continued commitment to our university community.

Dr. Shannon Dea
Provost and Vice-President
